Mangaluru, earlier known as Mangalore is famous for its beaches, ports, sea food, and much more as it is a coastal city. From the time of Hyder Ali major business took place at the sea port and ship-building centres. Today, Mangaluru is a major exporter of cashew, coffee, and spices. Temples such as the Someshwar Temple, Mangala Devi Temple, and the Kadri Manjunatha temple; Mosques such as Jumma Masjid and Idqah Mosque; and the St Aloysius College Chapel are all popular religious shrines in the city. The Shreemanthi Bai Memorial Government Museum impresses tourists from around the globe with its archaeology and ethnology along with its porcelain and wooden carvings. Equally enthusiasm providing is the Pilikula Nisagardhama, a 300 acre park that consists of boating facilities, wildlife safaris, mini aquariums and a science centre.
